LAAW would like to thank our major supporters. Please support those who support us.

Volunteer

Since the beginning, Legal Advocates for Abused Women has depended on the generosity of people like you to carry out our mission of helping victims of abuse in times of crisis. Volunteers have always been the driving force behind the organization, giving generously of their time and talent to serve in a variety of ways. Here's how you can get involved:

  • Volunteer for a specific LAAW program – You could be answering phone calls on our Legal Helpline, helping victims file for Orders of Protection, and much more. You may call the Volunteer Coordinator at 314.664.6699 for further information or to set up an interview.

A Microsoft Word version of the application may be downloaded here.
A resume is encouraged with the return of an application to:
    P.O. Box 15137
    St. Louis, MO 63110

  • Sign up to be a Volunteer Lawyer for LAAW (VLL) and represent victims who qualify for free legal representation at Order of Protection hearings.

  • Plan and implement fund-raising events like our annual Party With A Purpose or Trivia Night. Or plan your own fundraiser to benefit LAAW.

  • Assist LAAW with grant writing, research, and soliciting funds from individuals, groups, corporations, and organizations to meet LAAW’s annual fund goal.

  • Promote LAAW in the community through Public Relations & Community Outreach.  You could help produce LAAW’s Newsletter, develop marketing materials, and increase community awareness of LAAW and domestic violence issues.

  • Organize a cell phone drive for LAAW.  Deactivated cell phones can be used by victims to contact 911 in emergencies. Broken phones are recycled and the funds benefit LAAW.

  • Provide office assistance such as typing, telephoning, bookkeeping, organizing, or preparing mailings.

  • Promote LAAW's "If Not Now, When?" Campaign. Learn more by clicking here.

Volunteers are vital to the success of our mission. If you are interested in finding out about specific volunteer opportunities call the Volunteer Coordinator at 314.664.6699 for further information, an application, or to set up an interview.

Please note: Direct Service Volunteers are required to fulfill 40 hours of training. In addition to on-going trainings at LAAW, a one-time mandatory training is held three times a year around January, May, and September. You will receive comprehensive training to prepare you to work with victims of domestic violence.
